I originally had trouble getting the particles to show in arnold renderview which got me wondering was it the best option for rendering particles. Mike does not have this problem in his video, I could venture a guess that it’s differences of presets in Maya 2016 vs 2018. I was watching this Mike hermes tutorial, I again ran into issues, I could not resize the particle range with scale tool, if I did it would reset so the rain would fall much too short. I’ve had some trouble recreating this effect, I’ve learned some things about particles but would still like to achieve a greater knowledge. I’ve been following a couple of tutorials trying to wrap my head around particles, first of all I looked at this video I would like to try a range of animations possibly experimenting with environments and giving the impression of life to particles. I’ve decided to focus my attention on particle animations. It took around two hours and looked rather peculiar, I’d be interested to see what the entire rendered video would look like Ī selection of reference videos I used, there were many many more I attempted to render a frame of ‘Maya Fluids Test 15’ in Arnold. I ended up having a lot of fun testing ncloth on my rabbit from the environment project, here’s a video showing one of the preset options in the ncloth menu. I wanted to create another practical means for fluids so I took a candle I made for my environment project and created a flame on the wick, which seems to blow with the wind. Thanks to this Mike Hermes tutorial I was able to recreate rainfall I wanted to explore briefly other capabilities with the FX menu in Maya, I was able to recreate a splash using bifrost thanks to this guy I was able to use shatter and then bullet dynamics to create this effect in Maya I looked at some bullet dynamics using Mike Hermes Tutorial the spin that I placed on the spaceship creates a cool interaction with the fluid as it rises I wanted to see how applying a motion field to a model could appear and also how different shapes would effect the fluid. Here’s a variation of using the motion field and the same consistency of fluid, i really like how it interacts with the fluid. I really like the consistency I’ve been able to create with this fluid Here’s a video showing how I’ve applied keyframes to the motion field allowing it to interact with the fluids

I tried a few more variations of fluid tests, now messing with the keyframes, moving the fluid and changing other attributes such as turbulence and transparency, it produced some interesting results I was able to emit form the object and create this effect I decided to create a practical object with fluids, we needed a meteor for our animation so I decided to have a go at that. I watched a youtube tutorial on using motion fields, unfortunately I was unable to find it again, here’s my first test using a motion field… This playblast took ages, it didn’t turn out well, i think it was producing a high density of fluid but lacked buoyancy and was damp. This doesn’t look like fire, but it’s cool… I attempted to create some more realistic visuals using colour and self shadowing. I experimented with density, transparency and colour…Īdding turbulence was able to produce an interesting effect, almost creating a chaotic atmosphere.

The following video was very useful as it showed me a lot of the basic features of fluid dynamics and it captured the style of something I wanted to create.įrom this video I was able to produce some other effects with fluids…

Common courtesy is appreciated.įollow to keep up with the latest in development.I began to to mess around with maya fluids, editing some of the settings and see what I could achieve, I didn’t have much success with this so I began to look at some tutorials so I could get a better
